This video is not related to the patient’s testimonial; it just happens to include her, so I put it together.
Lynn's Story/Google Review:
It has been almost a year, since I started having itchy skin, it would at random times as well as random parts of my body. I finally saw 2 dermatologists in my are of Blacksburg and Radford VA, one told me it was old age skin and to use creams, the second told
me it was nerve pain and wanted to prescribed oral medications. I became very frustrated as to why no one could help me with
this medical problem. I started looking on line for other alternatives and ran across Joy Yang's practice. After doing some research on what she provided in the way of health care, I made appointment. Dr Joy spent a lot of time explaining the process in which she treats patients and that she could help me. After 3 treatments, the driving me crazy itchiness has almost all gone. I have been
able to sleep at night and not take any medications at all. I am so thankful for finding Dr. Joy as she continues to help me with
my health issues. I highly recommend her. Thank you Dr Joy for addressing my issues and helping me understand how to take care of myself, so that I can have a healthier, quality of life.
So very Grateful
Lynn
Follow up on my total health improvement with Dr. Joy Yang. I have been seeing Dr Joy about 4 months since my first visit.
I chose the internal package and I cannot tell how much my overall health has changed for the better. As a result of Dr Joy's
hands on care, educating me on proper body mechanics, diet, sleeping and how the body works with nature to heal us in
a natural way. My blood pressure is down to normal, energy lifestyle to a new one which brings me full of energy, happiness and the ability to to have a quality of life and enjoy the fun things I like to do. I will continue see her on a maintained
schedule as she is always willing to help anyone with total body health.
Dr Joy, I am so grateful for finding you and letting you help me heal my body. I know I still have a few thing to work on, but you
have given me the tools in which to do that. I appreciate all that you do for your clients and will highly recommend you to those who are looking to healthy bodies and lifestyle. I forever grateful !

Long before my first appointment, I was already well acquainted with Dr. Joy, as she has been working with my wife for about three years now. Her health issues are a bit more complex and ongoing than my own, so she was looking for someone with the empathy, compassion, care, and knowledge for the best, most comprehensive and holistic approach. After seeing the noticeable improvements and results from her overall outcomes, I knew that my wife had found someone special. Health care—and the journey toward health and wellness—isn’t a straight line, but she has come a long way since then.
When I started experiencing some concerns of my own, my wife encouraged me to consider Dr. Joy as well. The level of trust and respect was already there from observing how she’s treated and cared for my wife, so I naturally had fewer reservations about seeing her. I’m glad to say that her reputation is not only well founded and well deserved, but that she far exceeds expectations. There is a lot to be said about empathy and humanity, especially in our current health care system, but Dr. Joy is, first and foremost, a truly kind and good human.
After filling out the intake forms and speaking with her, she was able to determine some of the root causes of my current soreness and discomfort within the first few minutes of listening and observing. She then went to work on addressing said causes, providing both an insightful and informative understanding of what I was experiencing and why, showing me exactly where we needed to focus our treatment. I have seen her two more times, consistently taken the herbs she sent back with me along with the recommended plan for sleep and stretching, and I’m starting to feel like myself again. In fact, I’m starting to feel even better than I was before.
It’s a process and a journey, so I do want to continue to see her as a part of supporting myself, as both my body and mind—the big one for me—have only benefited from her care. As a practitioner, she offers what I would consider to be an ideal balance of Chinese and Western medicine, but more importantly than that, she clearly loves what she does and that love is felt and experienced in her office. I can’t say enough for what she has meant for my wife, now me, and our family.

And the selfless Love of a friend who got me there.

There is nothing greater in this world than Love. If we Love we have it all.
I am lucky enough to Love. I am lucky enough to know Love. Love brings our friends to us and us to our friends. In times we can help, we help. It’s a cycle. And I am fortunate enough to know, for just shy of my entire life, a friend who helped me.
Meriel, told me about a book, about Traditional Chinese Medicine, in that book it discussed how Chinese Medicine techniques can wildly help Scleroderma, maybe even send it into remission. Maybe even make it go away. I happen to have that passenger, Scleroderma, sitting in the backseat of my body’s car.
Meriel, called to make an appointment for me with Dr. Joy Yang, a Traditional Chinese Medicine doctor in Blacksburg, Virginia. One of the best, and I am now sure one of the best in the whole entire world. Of course, Meriel discovered I had to make my own appointment, so I did. And many. All thanks Meriel’s love and belief in my healing and of course my own belief as well.
Dr. Joy Yang, a wonderful sister/aunt/stranger/doctor/healer/magic maker/scientist/ friend I did not know I had. Until I knew. On my first meeting I felt it was going to be something special. Don’t get me wrong, I was nervous, unsure, unprepared but very much willing. On the wall in her office there is a sign that reads roughly: 1/3 the doctor, 1/3 the patient and 1/3 the creator. And that is the team that makes the healing happen.
So it began, and I began to just trust, trust the doctor, trust the creator and trust myself, that I am/was repairing. Through this trust and an open heart the deep energy work that Dr. Yang applies with acupuncture and other means, not understood by me, but enjoyed by me, our bodies, minds and spirits are able to not only physically get better but emotionally open. Thereby we are able to begin putting back together all the pieces of our beings beautiful puzzle. The old open wounds are finally able to form scars. It’s amazing, in fact, so amazing I am not describing the magnitude of immense power, energy and health I felt during the healings with Dr. Yang and since.
In one of my sessions, Dr. Yang was doing acupuncture and I felt as if there was a key put into my back and turned. Out from the door that key opened was every single thing, I never wanted to remember again. There it all was in the room right next to me. Every bad experience from birth to sixteen. It was horrible. It was terrifying. I left that day and sat in the parking lot for a hour allowing the rest of my body to process out those heavy emotional bodies. I wrote, I drew and I wrote some more, all those memories that flooded out into the room. I was all the feelings at once. Then release. Freedom from the old garbage, allowing the light to seep back in, allowing the energy to flow again through those areas of stagnation.
Each time I went back to the clinic more layers of emotion, more layers of memory, more layers of feeling moved, the energy in my body moved, my physical body began to heal, my emotional and light body began to heal. Since, I’ve held up my 1/3 of the bargain, do the work, put myself back together, follow the Doctor’s orders, do that work, and the final 1/3 is a mystery, but maybe the creator noticed little me going through the process of growth and renewal.
I was given this gift. A lesson in Love, that I hope someday to repay to someone else. Until then, I will share my chicken’s eggs, vegetables from the garden, and hot cups of tea. Come over. We’ll sit awhile in the sun and watch the birds.
Love.

So, you may have read in last weeks newsletter about Dr. Joy Yang, and the story of how I became one of her patients. (If you haven’t you may want to) Dr. Yang is a Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor in Blacksburg, VA.
Background: I have Scleroderma with Interstitial Lung disease. Last week I was at Johns Hopkins reviewing my Pulmonary Function Test and a couple other tests. I’ve been a patient there going on eight years. While meeting with the pulmonologist, I was told, “Thank you for giving me good news to share with you…” He said, my diffusion rate had increased from 42, to 50 to now 65. My lung volume had also increased, he looked at the top of my test results and looked again, double checking, I asked, is it really mine? He said, it seems so and smiled.
My lung diffusion rate was 50 right before starting visits with Dr. Yang, then increased to 65 which was smack towards the end of the 2x week treatment with Dr. Yang. That is amazing. When my numbers had been at 42, I had my two Hopkins's doctors, very seriously looking at me, telling me I better consider more intensive therapy, i.e more drug intervention and oxygen. Because things at that 42 point apparently can go downhill very quickly with lung function. I came home from that trip, and shared this with my family, and decided I had the next two seasons to improve, basically until my next appointment, at which point I decided I would do drug therapy for sure if I did not improve within that period of time. Everyday, consistently, leading up to my next appointment, I really focused on self healing, employing different modalities, but always breath work. Then enter Dr. Yang, around late August 2024.
Dr. Yang’s work on me has been physical and energetic. I have now gone from major lung dysfunction to healing lungs, with an improvement of 15 points! From emotional turmoil to healing emotions. From crying to laughing to singing. All emotional lung issues, according to TCM. On top of that my skin is softening, I am getting my much sought after wrinkles. And yes, I am one of the few people that wish for wrinkles. I do not know how TCM works, but I know it works for my body. And importantly my pulmonologist told me at this point he does not think drug treatment is necessary. But instead, both he and the Rheumatologist said keep doing whatever it is I am doing and of course monitor every six months with Pulmonary Function Test etc., per protocol I’ve been following.
Striving for health everyday.

So Much Love.
